Sounds fun. I'd bring cash and take it home. Actually I did the same thing with my '04 FLHRCI

I would try to get it just a little bit cheaper. But I would buy it in a heartbeat!

I looked for a used low mileage RK for almost 2 yrs and came across more than a few bikes that had the odometer tampered with. Finally decided to buy a bike new enough that the mileage is stored in the ecm not just in the odometer that could easily be changed out.

Get the vin and call a couple dealers and ask if they have any maintenance records to see if there are any discrepancies in the mileage records.

I once found a bike that looked really nice and had 2200 miles on the odo, called the original selling dealer and they had records of 2 services, 1000 mile in about 3 months and next one had almost 4k on it...

Tires also have date codes on them, sometimes that can help build a history.

well it does look like new. suppose someone could buy a new speedo and then put 3300 miles on it then sell it. id ****** it up if i can get him down to $6000.00. would be nice for long runs. had a 1990 FXSTC for a few years, fun but pain having to mount saddle bags and roll bag. made me want a bagger. and it seemed, for a while at least, most riders were going with baggers.

Low milage bikes can be a good find, with caveats. If it's the real deal then that means it's only been ridden an average of less than 160 miles per year. That means that it has sat ALOT. That can cause seals and bearings to dry out, rubber to dryrot, fluids to change chemically, sludge and deposits to form, electrical connections to corrode, etc, etc.
Just something to keep in mind when deciding what to pay.
And the tires, are they brand new? Or original tires that look new? Tires have an expiration date that's 5-7 years from manufacture. On a bike, that's one thing I would replace if there was any question.
