Default Yes, another handlebar thread

I've wanted to rotate my bars up a bit ever since I bought this bike. Reading the manual on handlebar adjustment, the instructions for a FLHTCU basically state: Remove fairing cap, loosen rear screws on upper handlebar clamps, adjust, re-tighten, put everything back together.

Ya..... riiiiggghhhht....

The upper handlebar clamps are right under the radio. I'd have to remove the radio and even then, I'm not sure if I could get my big fat meat hooks in there to loosen them.

I've read a couple other threads here and a couple of them talked about adjusting them from the back by removing the ignition switch and the switch control panel(which I can't figure out how that's attached). I removed the ignition switch, that was easy. Where the *bleep* are the screws for the control panel switch plate?

Thanks everyone!

A 1/4" stubby hex key works wonders here, at least on my '15. Bondhus makes a good set. The control panel on my bike is held on with 2ea 1/4" hex head cap screws, one on each side. Is there not a diagram in the book?

I've searched through the manual, looked at the bike and hunted all around and couldn't figure out how the control panel is attached. But then again, I was in a bit of a hurry last night.

I'll have more time this evening to look it over. Removing the radio from the front looks easy enough and I may have to approach the adjustment that way. It still bugs me that I can't figure out how to remove that damn control panel.

Thanks for the help!

I appreciate the info. Thanks!

Although, I like the bars that are on the bike. I need to twist them up a little and I think they'll be just right.

Thanks again!

After you pull the ignition switch you will see a nut on the shaft with an assembly below it. Unscrew the nut and remove the two pieces of the assbly (note the position because they hold the ignition switch in). The black plastic plate that says lock/unlock,etc snaps on/off. Press the little tabs and pop it off. Then remove the left and right screws holding the cover on (over by fork tubes one each side). Pull the cover back towards the seat a little and it comes right off. The two rear handlebar bolts will be visible. The short end of standard hex wrench will fit without a problem.

I managed to pull the radio and there was more room than I thought. Got the handlebars adjusted perfectly.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and advice!
