Default Post Drop Funkiness

Hey guys,

I slid the bike out from under me last week (2006 Road King EFI). Long story short, it seems my throttle is catching and not letting me go through the full motion. Here is the kicker....it is somewhat sporatic however, I have been able to get it to repeat after a stop up to 20mph. After that it works flawlessly. Any ideas as to what is wrong? Does the touring models have a program to limit the throttle on takeoff under certain modes?

NOT trying to sound like a smart ***. You do lube the throttle cable every 5k right? If it sits for long periods, I'd do it anyway even without the miles. I used to use Dri-Slide and loved it. Now no need with throttle by wire.

Which side did you do down on? Could you have damaged the grip/handlebars?
Are you getting any codes?
I think there is a limp mode but I'm not real sure. In any case, your symptoms don't sound like limp mode.

The bike's bars did not hit the ground. No codes either. I will just disconnect the battery at work and let it set to see if It is in limp mode.

I would check the cables connections at the throttle body for interference.

My bad....I misunderstood the post. I thought the throttle stuck and THEN it slid out from under you. I'd take it apart anyway just to make sure the cables look good and aren't binding. Sure is something you don't want repeating unexpected .

I misunderstood the post too. I thought he was unhappy with the handling after he installed lowering blocks and springs.

The push/pull throttle cables can get a kink in them. If they do even the oil does not help. Ask me how I know..............
