I've removed the return cable but no internal throttle. The return cable is a DOT mandate, there are probably hundreds of thousands of muscle cars in the world with no return cable/linkage. It isn't mandatory for proper operation.

early models had an internal to the bars .060 steel wire in a cable housing which PUSHED the throttle open.

I have this on my '53 ( as is stock), the left side has a similar wire to push the timing housing to advance/retard spark.

if you look at older parts catalogs, you'll see how this works..the Vtwin catalog has repros of all that old stuff.

If your bike won't go, that's bad. If your bike won't stop, that's worse. Are you sure you really want to get rid of the redundant safety feature? I guess there is always the kill switch if you think of it in time.
