if I tried that, none of the oil from the filter would actually make it in the motor......oil filter sits on it's side.......dumb question in 3.2.1.....was the oil filter even changed?

i always drain and then lean the bike to the right and more drains out. do this several times. add 3 quarts 11 ozs. and it brings to two dots below the full mark when cold. right on the money when hot. i've found that each dot on the dip stick is 2 ozs.

If you pre fill the filter half way before you start your service, the oil will absorb into the filter material by the time you need to put it on, so no pouring oil on the garage floor.

OP

Go hit the interstate at 80-85 mph for a couple hours. The excess oil will be out of the oil pan and in the air filter. Or, use a syringe and a clear piece of tubing to suck it out of the pan.

yeah, think you got that one wrong. the primary on my bike specs at 38oz for a wet fill. the 2017 m8 specs for a 30 oz wet fill. that's a pretty substantial decrease if you ask me.
