Only real benefit of the lith ion is it's lighter wt and that's it.
I say that because for the avg HD biker todays high quality deka & yuasa AGM fact act maint free bike batteries have good cranking power with up to 500cca's @ 1/3 to 1/2 the cost that have a proven track record of lasting 6-7+ yrs with no cold start issues like some lith bike batteries can have according to lith bike battery mfg's website.
And lith bike batteries have yrs to go before they prove they can consistently last 2x longer then lead acid AGM batteries like the mfg's advertise let alone consistently start a lrg disp HD motor with 20w-50 oil in it in colder outside temps without playing games to 1st wake up the lith bike battery by turning on the headlight for a few mins before you try to start the bike.
And the mfg state if it fails to start on the 1st try in colder temp try leaving headlight on a full 5 mins for trying a 2nd time to start it as stated on the lith ion motorcycle battery mfg's website stating thats required in some cases in colder temp which is just nuts when paying $250-$300+ for the battery to begin with.
Dont get me wrong,Lith battery tech is great for certain apps and has its place for sure, but lith bike batteries have yet to prove they can consistently last 6-7ys let alone last 2x longer then lead acid AGM battery tech as advertised not to mention reduce cost by at least 50% too before thinking of buying one.
Unless you have a custom build with no space for an agm battery or race bike where wt's an issue lith bike batteries are not yet cost effective with unproven reliability along with reduced/poor cold temp perf in some cases too vs a hi quality agm bike battery like i stated above that have a long proven reliablity record along with good CCA power and being 1/3 the cost too.

well i'm glad to hear you guys are having good results from the Deka batteries. like i said before, the two i've bought are still going strong. i'll see which one he prefers.

+1 on this battery. I have had 2 but no more then 2 years. My current bike has one and just passed my 2nd year.

NAPA sells a USA made HD battery for around $100. I like buying locally even if you pay a tad more because I can return it if needed without shipping it out, which is a PITA with such things.....FWIW.....Cliff

Lots of good battery choices out there. I went with a Duracell, 2 year free replacement, from Batteries Plus. Walk in, walk out is a plus. They told me it is made by East Penn.
Not sure I am ready to sit over a lithium battery, funky things happen to some of those, believe I'll wait a while before I'll try one, give some time to work out the bugs.

any one try a ''gel '' battery yet, I had one in my last bike,pricey but lasted a few years...with winters in the sub zero range for weeks....battery was tendered every month.
