Melted plastic on pipes!
Got caught in the rain yesterday. [:@] Raingear melted on pipes. [:@][:@][:@]About the size of a fifty-cent peice. I read somewhere how to remove this but I don't remember how to remove the plastic. Thanks in advance guys.

Two ways: 1st: use 0000 steel wool [super fine] and soap and water or WD-40 and lightly rub the plastic off. steel wool will not scratch your pipes "IF" you rub lightly. 2nd: spray "Easy Off" on the effected area, start bike until pipes heat up, rub gently with "0000 super fine steel wool" until plastic is removed.

Get the pipe warm either run the engine or heat it with a small torch. Spray oven cleaner in a cup brush it on the area or apply it with a rag. Spraying it can get it on other parts that you don't want. Let it sit for a couple minutes. Rub it with balled up aluminum foil. Foil is softer than the chrome won't scratch it at all. It will come clean wipe it down with some water and you are done!

What I'va always done is wait for to cool off and use a paint scraper type razor to peel it off. Just like removing an inspection sticker from inside your windshield. As long as you're careful about it you won't have any problems.

A plastic grocery sack blew onto my pipes, and all I used was #0000 steel wool. Works great. I started the scoot for a minute to let the pipes warm up. Took the steel wool to them and the plastic was gone in no time and not scratches/swirls at all. Works like a charm!!!
