Default Tour Pack Harness

The Road Glide I bought has a detachable tour pack with the lights on the side of the TP. The harness is inside the TP, but it is not connected to the bike. It does have the interior TP light hooked up.

There is a plug on the left side of the bike that I can see that is not connect to anything. I haven't checked the function of this plug yet, but it is a 3 pin plug the same style as the harness in the TP. If this plug is for the lights, is there an intermediate harness to hook the lights up? I didn't find anything in the parts book.

Thanks,

Monty

The tour-pak harness plugs in INSIDE the tourpack on the leftside. Route the plug you have found into the tour-pak and plug it in.
Just remove the grommet, slip it over the wire behind the plug and re-install.

The plug comes out of the harnessonly about an inch. I believe this harness goes to the tail lights. I'll pull the seat off this weekend and see if there is any more harness in there. Is the harness different between the RG's and the EG's?

Give me a few minutes, I am checking the manua, but they are showing the FLHTCU and the FLTR are the same harnesses, for the main. interconnect, and tourpak.
I am looking to see where they stashed the plug, or if you need a short interconnect between that plug and the TP.
Give me a bit.

The side marker lights on the tour pac are supposed to plug into the running light/brake light kit that you can install on the tour pac. The RL/BL harness has a short lead on it that barely extends out of the tour pac. You will have to splice in about 11" of wire to reach the plug you found near the rear left shock. Be very sure that you keep track of which lead is which when you splice in the extension.

Ok, the plug you need is plug 12b, 12a is the one on the tp side. Looking into the manual, it is not in the harness for the FLTR. BUT, the plug you have found is also in the right place to be 12b???
A quick check of the wire colors on the three place plug would be Black(hole1) red/yellow(hole two)Blue(hole three) These should also be the same on the tour pak plug on th harness you have.

the harness coming from the bike is probably stashed under the seat or on the left side panel (where the fuses are located). It will be about 2-3 ft long with a connector on the end. Connect that to the harness in the pak via inserting through the hole on the left side of the pak behind the seat and under the passenger backrest pad (grommet) and ta-da...lights.

Yeah, that whatI am thinking also, either he's got the wrong plug on the bike, or that harness is teathered up making it shorter and needs lossened.
I called my local dealer(they are a pretty sharpe bunch) and they said it should be no problem, nd he shouldn't have to "splice in" wire.

It's time for an oil change, so I'll get it up on the lift tomorrow, take the seat and side covers off and have a look around. I know some things have been moved around on the bike. The ignition boxhas been moved and it now has an amp under the right cover...so whoknows.

Thanks again.
