Aftermarket Tour Pack
The passenger backrest is OK, but the mounting system stinks. Mine came loose after a while, but since I don't ride with a passenger I took it off and filled in the holes with Bondo.
Speaking of Bondo, I'm an amateur painter. When I had the lid off to fill the holes for the now-gone backrest, I chose to fill in the spot where an emblem usually goes...just cuz I could. Sanded the whole thing down and squirted it black.
The light fixtures fit "OK," but I opted to use some rope putty and squished it around them on the inside just in case.
Ooh! Ooh! There were two tiny holes in the lid that were practically under the backrest. Real small, but they were obviously drilled for some reason. I found out they were there after I rode it in the rain. Had a little water inside, which made me look close until I found 'em. For a quick, temporary fix I put a small, black machine screw in them, but eventually filled them in when I painted the lid.
The lights that came with the Mutazu were just running lights as I recall. I rewired it with some relays and made them stop/run/turn signals.
It sounds like I did a lot of work on it, which I did. It wasn't because it needed a lot of work, though. Most of it was me just piddling around with it. I'm an old retired guy and I have a nice shop full of tools, I have plenty of time on my hands, and I love tinkering with stuff. Even if I had not modified it at all it would have been a fine tour pack. I just get antsy and have to fool with stuff like that.
I'd buy a Mutazu again if I needed one.
In the photo above you can see the bottom reinforcing plate, some of the white rope putty around the fixture buckets, and a length of lightweight chain I used to create a back-up tether in case the other one broke. Which reminds me, check all the fasteners on the hinges and latches, etc. I found about 1/3 of them had not been tightened up from the factory. Two of the loose bolts were those that held the tether to the bottom of the tour pack.
Above you can see where the indentation for an emblem isn't anymore. Filled that sucker in and smoothed it out. In the picture below (excuse the dirt on the lid) you can see where the emblem used to go. It didn't come with one, of course, so I whipped one up in PhotoShop and stuck it there for a while. The small metal emblem above the bumper sticker is just sitting there. I never glued it down. I was just seeing what it would look like.

Forgot to mention, add another $70 to the price as I added Custom Dynamic truflex smoked led strips. They look stealth, yet can be seen when lit up!! Well worth the money imo.
I've been running mine since 2011 I think, it been a while. No issues or cracks and many road trips loaded up.
