Coolant leaking
I believe my problem is somewhat different than others . I had the bike a full year when in Sturgis some of the cool and ran out . I took it to Rapid City HD and they replaced the thermostat and said it was fixed. This is where gets weird, I rode a full year and once again while in Sturgis it did the same thing. Again they change the thermostatic I and said it was fixed. Both times it was cool out and I was not in stop and go traffic. I rode it all the way home with several stops and no problems and then after 600 miles, stop for gas and it leaked out 4 to 6 ounces at the gas pumps. How in the world can you ride the bike for year with no problems and then all the sudden it does the same exact thing a year later. Anyone else have a similar problem ?

some guys were having problems with coolant leaking out when it's cold outside. i think some of them traced it to the hose that attachs to the thermostat. some people replced the clamp with a worm drive style which i don't really care for, but it fix some bikes. hopes this help you a little or at least gives you a place to start.

Stop going to the same damn place every year.
If you go to the same old damn place and the same **** happens, dont you think its the place that you go is causing the issue? Go somewhere different and see if it doesnt happen.
