Default Getting factory A/C OFF!!!!!

Went out today to put my new A/C on, K&N etc, pulled football off 30 sec, going great I think but WHAT the HELL does Harley use on those 3 bolts holding the Air Filter on [sm=headbang.gif]I felt like I was going to wring the head off my bonhous wrench and they never even moved tapped with brass hammer still won't move got pissed and just stuck the custom cover on and retreated [:@]This will not stand, how did yall overcome this or am I the only poor soul thats run into this problem, I know I could grind off the heads and remove it that way I have a new backing plate But I hate to do that. Any thoughts I'm down to the 4" grinder level [sm=shootshoot.gif]

I didn't have a problem with mine. Perhaps someone else that has had a stock A/C on their bike for a while can chime in.

Peace,

Try some heaton the heads of the bolts to soften the locktight at the other end. Don't light it on fire thou.

Not sure how tight mine were on there. I used a 1/2 drive with an extension on it and my big-o pry-bar attached to it. I generally like to try and use the pry-bar so I don't have to exert so much 'force' and rack my knuckles on it or have to use so much force on bolts/nuts where when it breaks loose the socket wrench goes flying and banging into something. So typically when I take stuff of I use the bar (I think I have a 24" or so bar)

Mine came of easy, Bobby. If the applicator before you added too much loctite, heat is your friend. If you have a soldering iron, try heating those heads up with it and then using your wrench.
Hang in there! Don't twist 'em off!

I just did mine the other day I only had 1600 miles on it but I started off with a 1/4 inch socket with extension and it didnt budge went to a 1/2 inch socket with extension and it came right off.. was preparing myself to get the bar out but it was not needed... good luck to you...
