Went to the local dealer last Friday after work with all intentions of riding home with a new bike. Wife says do what you want you only live once So dealer was offering just over $20,000 for my 2010 limited and some small amount off a 2017 limited and a ton off a 2016 limited. For what ever reason I told them to give me until the morning as the weather was **** and wanted to ride new bike home. I gave it a once over in my head when I got home and made the decision that although a new bike would be great I am still very much pleased with my 2010. The new model is fantastic but $20,000 more fantastic I'm not sure on that one. So I will keep the bike and spend some on it this winter just to keep me from looking again. New stereo and speakers and some cams should do the trick. But like others have stated I didnt buy the bike for an investment and expected to loose money the second I turned the key.
$20K for your bike and $20K left to ride theirs home ? means they were giving you about $7500. for yours ?
I thought he meant it would cost him 20K, plus his old bike....
If they gave him a 20K trade-in offer on a 2010, he should have jumped on it!!!
i gave it a good thinking of for sure. Up here in Canada the ultra limited is price tagged north of $34,000 and thenthere is added on taxes etc. Yes the price they offered was great and I probably will never get it again. I'm keeping the old for now. Like I said I didn't think a new bike was $20,000 better yet. I have a keeper for now he near future
specially if ya have it lien free, hell I didn't want to part with a beat up bmw tourer, just because I owned it outright........but then it's a Harley I DID get!
In a years time prices will balance out, but rite now most dealers are gonna run with the hot new thing game for as long as they can. A few months back i traded in my 14 street glide special for 20k even and paid 22 for a 16 rgs knowing the m8 were a week or 2 away. My local dealer is more than fair to me. Believe me i have spoke with the owner about trading my 16 in for a 17. I finally took a step back and came to my senses as I got my 16 knowing what to expect and love every second of riding it. Yes I have rode a few m8's now and dont care for it. At this point in time it feels toooooo metric for my blood.
Every time my compulsive buying habit starts to kick in i try to remind myself i will have fun doing what we do on any bike. I dont need the newest thing out all the time, and if others did the same thing dealers would not have us by the ***** like they do.
