I just noticed that the Weather Channel chick in Daytona is at the hotel I was originally going to stay in. The Plaza. That place has quite a bit of bad damage.
Current models showing storm circling much farther south and decreasing in strength. Be glad the eye never hit the coast or things would have been much worse. Should be down to a category 1 by later tonight or early tomorrow and a TS by Sunday....
Well were bikers and were still going. Thank you all for all the great recommendations. My cash may not be allot but every little bit will help the locals. Anyone else still going?

I'll still be there. Not being able to ride up and down A1A all weekend won't spoil the party for me.
The damage is pretty bad in some places but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I live in New Smyrna Beach just south of Daytona. The wife's grandma live beach side. I went and boarded up all her windows and picked up everything I could Thursday. She refused to leave! Theyfinally opened the bridges this morning so I went and took the plywood down and picked up the debris. On the way there I drove down A1A and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. There was some damage to some of the big hotels and gas stations. And there really wasn't any business signs that could withstand it. But honestly all in all it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I was in Port Charlotte about 7 months after hurricane charlie came through and that place was still destroyed. Matthew was a strong storm but I think everyone was better prepared for it. My place lost some trees and tore up some fence but the roof held together and our power is back on. Everyone is safe!
