Default Another Driver's Backrest Thread: (2)Rods you Squeeze vs, Flat Bar type?

Next purchase for my 2013 LTD will be a Driver's Backrest. Looking to cap out on e-bay (I have gift cards to burn up) at $150 max. Want the manual adjustable type without the cable.
Which is the better way to go: the Flat Bar style with the dimpled notches for height adjustment, or the style with the (2) spring loaded rods you squeeze together?
For the budget I have in mind, I assume whatever I get will be made in China, and not Chino...

check your local craigslist- you'd get HD stuff for that price.

mine is the 2 round rods...which are...height adjustable

Had the flat bar with cable adjuster model on my EG. Works quite well and very adjustable, but the pad is very thick. Made me set forward on seat, which put my nads on the part of the seat that curves up and sits on the tank. Not very pleasant. Have a Mustang seat now, so went with their backrest. Lots thinner and works better as the seat sets you back a couple inches anyway.

I've got a "plug and play" backrest that I got from Kuryakin. It has a bracket which you just insert the backrest into..there is some play in front and rear movement. It is collecting dust right now as I use another one. If you have interest, I can send pics and figure out a price. I tried to private message you but not sure why it wouldn't go through.

I started out with the Grasshopper for my Road King. Nicely made, very basic, good price, but I thought the metal was a bit thin and seemed to bend a bit too easy and is not really adjustable. I then found a spring loaded 2 pin version. Its surface area seems bigger, some what adjustable but it seems to flop around a bit and doesn't look as "clean" on the bike. Both are being used on a Hammock seat. I'm now looking for a Mustang seat with backrest. Its a very comfortable seat and the whole set up looks great, and, or, I'll be looking for the HD adjustable version to try that out.
