Total knee replacement
Going on 7 weeks on my second replacement {one in Feb the other in Sept}.
The second has been a nightmare! The first not to bad and rode 4 months afterwards, didn't have much trouble but hey, were all different and age has a big factor. Mind your therapist and you'll make it, you got lots of time before spring hits.

Didn't have the knee replacement yet (will need in another 10 years or so). But did shatter the Tibia Plateau (area just below the knee). Had my wreck October 6th surgery October 21st and was riding again in April. Since mine was right leg breaking was only difficult. Bought an ezbrake and no longer have to swing leg up and aound to reach brake.

I will assume you have done your due diligence on surgeons. It is critical. I know it's not the same but I had my hip replaced 3 years ago. By a surgeon who only does knees and hips. I was only 43 when I had to it done. My only regret was i did not do it sooner. I was cut at 8:00 am on a Tuesday and walked out of the hospital the same night at 8 pm. I did not spend a single night and yes I walked out the same day. It sounds stupid to say but it really was easy for me. I was back on my bike in 6 weeks and back to playing ice hockey 6 months to the day. My surgeon did tell me that knees are more difficult to rehab than a hips. Find the best surgeon and you will be fine. You will be back to riding in no time. With winter coming in the great white north, your timing is good. Best of Luck !!!

My wife has had 7 knee surgeries between her two knees. She isn't old enough (or wasn't at the last visit) to get replacements. Each and every time, she really pushed through the PT and it made a huge difference.
+1 on finding the write Doc. The one she used in later surgeries does Ortho for several pro teams in my area. Came highly recommended and it was outpatient. Make sure to borrow a minivan or the like if you don't have one for transport home. It makes it a lot easier to climb into the back seat of the van than to try squeezing in the front passenger compartment.
In the good ol' days, you could just climb in the bed of a truck and have no worries. Seatbelts are hard to come by in truck beds now, though...
