What can I say that hasn't been said?! do the PT and follow doctors orders. Had mine done early January 2012 and was on the bike when the weather broke. had aches and pains at first, but they went away. I never think about it now. Build the strength up and you'll be fine.

Everyone who said stick with pt is spot on. Don't rush back to the bike too soon as your knee needs time and holding up the bike is important. My left leg is numb on the inside from the nerve being cut and I manage, you will to. Best of luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery

You could always put on some Reduced Reach bars on your Barcalounger and play some Harley exhaust notes during your recovery.

Fast recovery!

Not to scare you to bad but things can go wrong. My right knee went off without a hitch but the left knee has been hell! Same surgeon just not working out well. Went back in 4 weeks to the day and had the knee manipulated but after 4 days right back to the same spot in bending as before.
Tuesday I start seeing a nerve specialist because the whole leg hurts from hip to ankle making bending it like being stabbed with ice picks. I said from within hours of surgery that someone cranked down the turninck [sp] too much as I was bruised from knee to crotch with a lot of nerve/muscle pain. Finally might get someplace.
Just think positive, most people get off without a hitch.

I know 4 people who have had knee replacement surgery, they have all been very happy with the result and are glad they did it. One of them is very active, cycles, etc., so I'm sure riding won't be an issue.

As others have stated. More important than the bike is the correct surgeon and pain management. I had my hip done 5 years ago and my only regret was waiting so long. Wish you lived in the Boston, MA area because we have some incredible doctors along with devices to keep you pain and swelling to a minimum. Good luck and be a good patient and listen to what they tell you to do. No more no less. Rehab is the key to a success.

I need a knee replacement, I workout in the gym 5 days a week, a buddy I lift with, is a physical therapist, he says I need to get my range of motion and muscles strong before I have the operation, that way the recovery is shorter.
He says those individuals who don't get prepared have a longer recovery period, he also stated those who don't do exactly what their therapist tells them to do with their rehab have a more difficult time with the rehab. Just food for thought folks, remember your knee will never be the same!
