Didn't you notice that very short 4" screen on the Street Glide?
It is much more about looking cool, than any function.
Was the first thing I changed on my previous Street Glide.
It is nothing like the windshield on the Ultra or your Road King.
No, I did not pay attention to that. When I take an Ultra and RG out for a test, I will pay close attention to that detail. Thanks for the heads up.
Sorry, not buying this "bit like a bobble head doll". The buffeting is greatly decreased on the newer bikes, no way you had buffeting this extreme.
No idea what the buffeting was like on previous bikes as I never rode one. I typically wear a 3/4 helmet with a face shield, sometimes a full face. On this ride I was wearing the 3/4 with a face shield. Perhaps my experience was due to the faceshield? I'll wear a different helmet or pull the faceshield off next test ride.
The windshields that come on either the RG or the UL are short and will need to be replaced. It's just another way HD gets you to spend money but there are lots of better than stock shields out there.
I tried to rent a road glide special this summer as I was looking to buy one but had to rent a UL being thats all they had for the day I rented. Boy I am glad I did because I really liked it much better than the street glide I rented earlier in the summer. So I changed my rental search to the RGU not being shy now with the extras the Ultra package brings. While I really like the Ultra I like the more open feel on the RGU and its looks overall. I do think the 2 benefits of the UL are the lack of dash glare and better speaker positioning. But... For me its no contest and was an easy decision RGU. I bought a 2017.

I actually swapped my Limited stock shield with the shorter Limited Low shield and I do not get any more wind then I did with the stock windshield.

I test drove an UL and I had the same exact thing. Maybe it needed a different windscreen, but the "bobble head" effect was real man. I drove me nuts for 10 miles. Noooope..
Personally, I'd take the RGU if I got into a bike like that.
UL has a glossy black inner fairing, the RGU has flat black inner fairing.

Thanks. These are the small nuances I was hoping people would point out.

I hear you on the shocks, no where on their site do they spec the shocks on each model
Agreed per the spec sheet on the dims, see below. Wouldn't that just lower your center of gravity? Doesn't the travel of the shock create the absorption from the road surface? So since it has the same travel, wouldn't it have the same absorption? So just as cushy of a ride?
