I'm afraid that too many of our younger generation have had so many things simply handed to them, that they don't know enough about the sacrifices made by veterans. It's sad that they take for granted things that were bought so dearly.

Just got back from the Sandbox myself on Thursday.

Lots of brave young kids over there doing what they need to do. Keep the faith for that kid young enough to be your son/daughter or even grandkid, I am on the old side of middle in military years, butlet me tell youthe young kids amaze me every day whith their hard work.

and by the way......

A truly equal and sincerethanks to those of youstateside who seperate your political views and continue to support our armed forces.

We do as required, those back home who stand up for us and our families are very much appreciated. I tell my daughter regularly, and always have, that we protect the vet carrying the flag and the idiot who burns it (one we support happily, the other, not so much, but still do out of the principles of freedom)

Keep the faith regardless of what happens in 08

My427stang, thank you for being a soldier, I've been there, done that and am proud of it. BUT I'd still like to bitch-slip the idiot SOB who burns our flag!

Welcome home my Brother. I got back in Nov and the last 6 months have been, well, interesting. I am also what we call in the Army, of retirement age, but in Civilian life still young(er)/not so old. I actually served with 2 Troops that graduated from HS with my Daughter! My young troops were wonderful, they stepped up to the plate and hit home runs. I was concerned during MOB training but when we got down range I was happy.

Remember those who "Gave All". Please remember the families that are left behind. There are about 1000 families that are alone for the first time since last years Memorial Day.

Just some info I looked up:

"Many people confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. While those who died are also remembered on Veterans Day, Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor ALL those who served honorably in the military - in wartime or peacetime. In fact, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served - not only those who died - have sacrificed and done their duty."
