Biker Down (Update)...
Our Blue Knights Chapter (LAIII)along with many other across Mississippi and Louisiana attend as well as Law Enforcement officers from all types of departmentsand the majority of them ride their bikes. Today we had several hundred bikers show up for the festivities.
After the ceremony and lunch a lot of folks ride to an area in Mississippi we call "The Bluffs" and it was here that a fellow Knight went down and is currently in surgery for swelling of the brainas well asmanyother injuries. I'm getting bits and pieces of what happened, but from what I gathered it went like this.
Ray was riding with several other Knights and when the Knights in front of him slowed down, Ray for some unknown reason did not. He was traveling about 50 MPH, from what I understand and when he realized the Knights in front of him had slowed down and were preparing to stop he got on his rear brake and the bike fished tailed and went into a slide. It was then he struck another Knight in front of him, and thank god the other knight escaped without injury. Ray on the other hand was wearing a novelty helmet and did not fair as well. He was life flighted from the scene and flownto Forrest General in Hattiesburg Mississippi where he's currently in surgery.
I realized that we all can set back and say, he should of been paying attention or he shouldn't of gotten on the rear brake as hard, well, we all realized that, however it happened and now one of our brother who is married and has several small children is fighting for his life and I ask each and everyone of you to keep him and his family in your prayers.
Like I said above I'm getting bits and pieces from other riders as to what happened. As soon as I hear more I will post it and give ya'll an update, once again please pray for Ray and his family during this hard time. Thanks..."D"
