I know, I know, there are already tons of threads on this subject but man, I have spent a couple of hours searching through them trying to figure out what I need to buy.
All I want to do is add a quick-release setup for my Tour-Pak, while spending the least cash necessary. Can anyone tell he which H-D parts I need to buy, or better yet, an aftermarket source?
I know it's just a 20-ish minute task to manually remove / replace, but I'd rather it be quicker and simpler.
Thanks Peepers (correction... thanks SeeJeepCrawl!). I don't think that part number fits an Ultra, but I've messaged the seller to see if they have one that does. Good job on the find, too. I had searched e-bay but must have been using the wrong keywords. I was searching for "quick release" not "dock".
I went through this with my '06 Ultra. I think they don't show it as fitting Ultra because of the ton of wires going to the tp.[the frame and chassis are all the same on the touring bikes '97-'07.
I don't really know enough about the options, but yes, I'm open to that. Whatcha got???
hdbob is right; the reason HD says the quick-release stuff doesn't work on the Ultra Classic is because you have to hide some wiring and maybe the amplifier for your radio. I did it. It's not that big a deal.
Anyway, for cheap I have: the sissy bar with pad; a luggage rack; and all the docking points. (I think these are all the points you need for the tour pak as well.
