Hey Iclick, what seat is that on your bike? The stock seat killed my butt today on a250 mile putt around Northern Nevada. Gotta do something. Thanks.

It's a Mustang #79100, which is the solo seat and backrest package. Very comfortable on the long haul, similar to my old Corbin solo. Went with Mustang this time because it was $200 cheaper than the Corbin with the backrest. No regrets.

Note that the Tour Pak on the solo rack had to be moved back about 1Âź" to allow clearance with the seat's backrest. That surgery was described here: https://www.hdforums.com/m_1118659/tm.htm

Iclick's installation used a 3/8"MPT X 1/8"FPT; my '04 installation used a 1/4"MPT X 1/8" FPT. I originally purchased the one Iclick mentions, but it was too large for the drain hole in my bike. The 1/4"X1/8" worked perfectly.
Interesting. At least two '07's here used 3/8" for the pan, so somewhere between your '04 and '07 there was a change. Now, when was it?

I'm very interested in doing the temp guage myselfafter I take delivery next week. I asked the dealer about installing the sensor in the pan and he looked at me like I was speaking Chinese. Looks like I'll be doing it myself, so I hope it's not too difficult!

Just make sure it straightens up before 90 days is up, as that when the warranty expires. If you have a good relationship with your dealer you should be able to have the gauge replaced even though you installed it. I've done this type of thing with my dealer a few times over the years, as I have them fooled into thinking I know what I'm doing and if the item breaks there isn't any fault in my expert install procedure. It's a good relationship, and as long as I don't break too many parts, they stay clueless.
You are lucky. Most dealers won't replace a part once it has been installed.

I tried the smoked lenses on my '04 EGC. Put them on, looked at them with lights on/off, didn't like them and took them back off. Nevereven took bike for a ride with them on. Went back to dealer to get money back andparts gut goes, "No refunds on installed parts. We can't sell a part you've put on and scratched up." I looked at him and told him what I had done and the parts looked like new. Also, what about some of the other parts I've seen hanging on shelf with the packaging retaped orrestapled? Other parts guy tells him they can take the parts back since they aren't messed up. I make it a point to not go back to the 1st parts guy now when I want something.

stro1965: When I stopped by the dealer today I showedthe Service Manager the new inner fairing and spun al. gauges. I also told him I used the oil pan location for the sending unit and he immediately said that is where HD should have mounted the oil temp sending unit in the first place.

Excellent, I cannot for the life of me figure out why HD puts that silly ambient air temp thing on there, except to fill up an otherwise empty hole!

How about this. On my 07 Ultra there are two allen head bolts on the oil filter mounting flang on the front of the engine. Does anyone know what these are for. It looks like it may be a place to tap into the oiling system for a gauge or a cooler? Any one know?

I tried to put my sending unit in there but with the adapter it would not clear the frame.
