GPS Navsync NoNavContent error warranty job update
Make sure your buddy claims it as a warranty job. Even though the error is rare - the more people who report it, the more likely HD will have to do something about it.
My tech tells me only a few people have reported this particular error so your bud in in the minority unfortunately.
- Put USB in bike export for update (finger print) to USB.
- Put USB in computer, open Naviextras Toolbox
- Message - "There is an important system update available for you."
- Update is applied to USB
- Put USB in bike - "Authenticating...Error: NavSync_NoNavContent"
I'm not sure if others are just skipping this "important update" and going on to download and install an updated map? Or if this just works for others?
I'm a little leary about downloading a map update if I can't get this small "important" update to work properly.
If anyone sees this, this is what happened to me today, and it worked perfectly....
1. I "exported" my image from the bike to a thumbstick so that Naviextras tool box could analyze it for updates. The tool box said that I needed an update and automatically put it back on the thumbstick which I took right down stairs and plugged back into the bike...which it took, perfectly.
2. I downloaded the European Intercontinental map and unzipped it......and copied that unzipped folder to my thumbstick. So now I have the original "fingerprint" image from the bike on the thumbstick, and this new EU folder with the new map content. I went down to plug it back into the bike and it gave me the error.....Which I learned from your thread above Kepros means that the bike is telling me you are up to date.....which doesn't make sense because I have these new maps.
3. I figured out that the instructions for downloading your maps to the thumbstick are a bit vague....I forget if it was in the boombox manual or the Naviextra site, but there is a line that says "copy the unzipped package to the thumbstick". This is not correct, because this is a folder.....the bike is not looking for a folder, it is looking for an image file called swdl (whatever that means).
4. I noticed that when I exported my bike "fingerprint" image to the thumbstick, that there was a new "swdl" file. This is what the bike needs.....So when I went to insert the thumbstick back into the bike, the swdl file that I had already pulled from the bike was still there along with the new Europe folder that I had onto the thumbstick....so that is what the bike is reading and saying, essentially, "I don't need this, I already have it" as Kepros points out, above.
5. Since I figured out that the bike needs to read a new image and not the folder, I created two folders on my computer for storage....One for the original image that my bike came with, and one for the new European maps.
6. After I created these folders on my computer and put the swdl images inside them, I deleted everything off of my thumbstick and put the two EU files straight onto the thumbstick (Not inside a folder).
7. This is the new European "image" (swdl) that the bike reads automatically when you put in the thumbstick.
8. The last little bit that stumped me was when I put the drive in and the bike auto read it, it worked and said "For map updates, go to......" and then it seemed to freeze....(so I thought)....the right side toggle wasn't working, only during this procedure. After a couple of times of pulling my hair out, I realized that all I had to do was hit "Next" on the touch screen (dumbass)
9. From there, everything worked perfectly.....Bike gives you a registration code, take that to the site and pay, the site gives you the activation code, you enter that back into the bike and the update occurs....
It does take a little while as it is USB, but all is well now.....
I know that is a lot of words....I hope it all makes sense and helps somebody.
