What's a new guy supposed to think of all of the tuners and downloads available for the '07 96" motor? I read andsearch about each product and with all of the raves about how good each is, I alsokeep hearing a few bad comments and of course those stick in the mind moreso that the good comments.
I'm basically wanting to add pipes for the Harley sound, cool her off a bit so the engine will last, and add some low end torque to boot.
I thought I was sold on the PCIII but have heard the most negative about them so what is YOUR best recommendations or experiences with tuners and downloads. I'm sure I'll leave some out but I'm just going on my knowledge from the board here.
If you vote "Others" please reply as to what your talking about and whyto help educate me.
Thanks
I have and prefer the PCIIIusb when compared to other "piggyback" units.
But, if I had the money I would either have the Thundermax or the DTT. Both are around $800, but they are closed-loop auto-tuning systems that adjust to whatever changes you make to the bike.
If you only use independent shops for services and do not do any cross country riding any of the above will work for you. But if you use the HD race tuner at least you would know that anywhere you ride if there is a dealer available they will be able to to remap you if you have a problem. All the systems do the same basic thing. But the race tuner I think offers a little bit more flexability.
Some dealerships will not dick around with aftermarket tuners.

To each his own however...if you have a problem with your SERT can you simply unplug it and get back on your merry little way?
I can only comment on the SERT and PC because I have used them both on several HD's over the years and I have to go with the PC because of reliability and ease of use. I had the SERT back in 2001 and never could get any dealer that could tune it right. Maybe they are better now but I'll still take DynoJet over HD any day.[sm=icon_rock.gif]

If you have a problem with your SERT you can unplug it? Nothing is left on the bike with a SERT.... Nothing to unplug!!!!
A SERT is just a box used to communicate with the ECM and write new Maps to it. Nothing stays on the bike with a SERT!!
simple exhaust changes ..... nothing wrong with a Fuel Pack. Easy on.. .easy off. With an '07 I would go with a SERT over a PC-III just because it can use the 02 sensors. The best, IMO is the Thundermax with auto-tune. Looks totally wicked and great for the bike. Fuel pack can only 'add' fuel to the equation so it won't ever cause the bike to run leaner. It also doesn't really use the 02 sensors except at idle.
no tuning done to the fuel pack. Just enter the codes... and you are off and running. Any other engine changes (ie big bore, cam changes... etc) I would go NOT go with the fuel pack but would look for an alternative.
