I'm riding a 07 street glide with a mustang touring seat the controls seem to be uncomfortable to shift and to apply the brake, I have to lift my foot off the floorboards. Seems to worst after installing the seat. Is there adjustment to make on existing controls or purchase something different? Need suggestions.
I have the same problem 6' 3 1/4".I have to pull my foot out from under the pedal then lift way up to apply the brake, very awkward and takes too much time, when you have to get stopped in a hurry. You should just have to move your foot forward to apply the brake.Took my stock length brake lever off and put the extended lever on better but still have to move my foot out and up to far to apply the rear brake. I'm going with the EZ Brake next. http://bellsouthpwp.net/e/z/ezbrake/index.htm
The shift lever is adjusted up and down by the turnbuckle/ gear shift linkage. If that doesn't go up or down enough for you then take the lever off and move it up or down one notch of the spline. If you don't use the heel shifter, leave it off and keep it as a spare. Use Locktie on the allen head screw on the lever (not on the linkage).
I think it took 4 trys to get mine just right.
Spend the $200 on the fancy linkage. I know it's too much money, but the stock one is going to break and leave you stranded so you might as well spend the money now. Go ahead, you're worth it!
I removed my heel shifter, and gave myself more room to shift. Also adjusted the shifter to an acceptable position. I will buy a longer one at some point. I still have the stock brake pedal also. I am 6'1" and installed highway pegs. I use them all the time, and moving from it to the brake pedal is easier than from the floor board to the pedal. If I could figure a way to put all the controls on the highway pegs, I would do it. I seldom even touch the floor boards. If you haven't already, try the highway peg. Made a big difference for me in the braking department.
I'm 6'4" and I have always put Hwy Pegs (Kuryakyn - Lg) on my engine guards - Then adjust my Fwd shifter (rear shifter removed) so that I can shift Up & Down using the heal of my boot (like a fwd control) and use my heal resting on the hwy pegs for the rear brake pedal also - Did install EZ-Brake as it lowered the pedal a bit.. Have been using this set-up for many - many years
