i bought some from RX-safety bout 4 years ago....wiley X gravity black ops. with my scrip, bifocal and transition lenses... best buy I ever made..... at the time, you could by the frames, try em out the send em back with the scrip form....
My employer buys us 2 pair of safety glasses every year(incase you break a pair you still have some). They are 3M. I just get one of the pairs in a wrap around style and they work great.
I've had the same pair of Liberty Sport transition from a local vision retailer for years. Still comfortable. Also have a set of Harley frames (HDX 860) from a local Visionworks store. These are bifocal, sunglass only - no transition.
My only suggestion is to definitely get a transition lens. Stopping to change out glasses or lenses at dusk is a pain in the *** in my opinion.
Of my 3 pair of Wiley-X glasses, one is transition. It was my first purchase because I could wear them day or night. I still wear them for cloudy or dark rides.
Check out adseyewear.com real good company to deal with very decent prices and very helpful and knowledgeable people. We've been buying from them since 09.
Reluctantly went to sportrx and ordered prescription Wiley X's, a gray lens and clear lens pair. I always wear progressives and was skeptical because they did not measure where the transition was, they said all sport lens are the same. Hands down the best riding glasses I have purchased. Script is perfect, could not be happier. Will certainly order from them again.
Do the transitions get dark as sunglasses now? It's been 20 years since I've had transitions. Back then I had to have prescription sunglasses made for riding all day in the Florida sun.
I find that the transitions get pretty close to my sunglasses but they are just a bit less dark. Since buying my original transition pair I've bought a pair of normal sunglasses from Wiley-X with a flash mirror effect. These are my regular daytime sunny day riding glasses. I also bought a really dark pair with full mirror effect. They are great for the beach but too dark to ride with. If you go under a bridge you can barely see.
Short answer, if you're getting one pair, the transitions are the way to go. Good enough for sunny days and they'll work for overcast or nighttime riding.
