They'd be given me a loner and I'd be on the phone with corporate. Cruise control causing the problem is bs. When I bought mine in '14 I used the cruise many times before 1000 miles, with no issues.
Salesman and service would get poor reviews when the Harley survey comes in.
That is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I would make them point out exactly where it states this in the manual. You handled it a lot better than I would have. I would have had a few choice words for that guy.
Harley uses cruise control on the end of assembly final test-
Each completed Harley gets a "Roll test" before the bike is put into the shipping crate.
The roll test is about a 1.5 mile dyno run. It reaches highway speeds and tests shifting, braking, lights and even cruise control.
I've heard of this happening if you shut the bike off,and twist grip isn't totally released. You still have your hand on it and might have a bit of throttle applied.I think it could be cured by cycling the ignition switch on/off a few times.

Agree! Had the same issue with my '16. I don't think the throttle module has channged.
Problem: High idle
Cause: shut sown bike while throttle not at zero (easy to do)
Fix: reset throttle zero
How: cycle ignition on and off 5 times letting everything electronic wake up before shutting off on each cycle
After the five cycles the throttle should be reset.
I was lucky. When I brought mine to the dealer the service writer knew of the issue and showed me how to fix it. And how to prevent it.
With electronic throttle make sure your hand is off the throttle when you shut down.
Hope this helps.

I'm betting these guys nailed it.... of course your dealer won't tell you that. If they even figure it out...
I've read about this issue, on a couple forums, several times over the last few years....
