Sorry to kick sand here but your causing your own problems , you had to get the same speech I did when I bought and the man distinctly said vary the rpms and keep it under 60mph or 3000rpm for the first 50 to 100 miles and avoid using the cruise till them. Reading the book that does come in the saddlebag it says don't use the cruise under 50mph. So you pop the cherry on new motor by hitting the superslam and hauling *** ? Am I getting that right ?
If you read his post correctly it says he is on the highway , you know like 55 and above. I'm guessing 60 mph on a new ride might put you at 2000 rpm. . When his throttle was sticking it went to 3k and returned after he shut it off. If that's popping the cherry on a new bike my grandma would fail as well....

Guy you honestly think he was staying under 60 and varying the r's I got a bridge in Florida I'll sell you cheap.
I get that you want to vary the RPMs when breaking in a bike. And THAT is the reason, only reason, to suggest not to use the cruise control during the first 1000 miles....
But to suggest the cruise control/ECM/throttle body need a 1000mi break-in or the throttle body will stick is absolute stupidity........ cruise control/ECM/throttle body do not need any type of break in..... Put any one of those, or all three, on a bike with 20K miles and no one is going to tell you not use the cruise control for the first 1K miles after installation....
I don't care if 999 miles of the first 1000 are on cruise control, it may affect the seating of the rings, but it will not affect the throttle body....
Either the throttle body is bad (unrelated to cruise control use) or the dealer is tap dancing because they haven't got a clue what went wrong....!
Sorry for your bad luck OP, good luck dealing with that dealership.....

Oh I get what your saying but none of us in here know enough about the systems and what software changes have been made because of the EPA BS and compliance to know what went goofy with it. Vice prez of the dealer I bought from and the service manager I grilled later both told me to avoid using the cruise control for a few hundred miles. Why? Between that, this story and few similar I've read elsewhere I can't help but wonder if something isn't related, just the mechanic in me asking.

So true.... throw a computer into the mix and almost anything can happen....
But I still think the dealer is showing ignorance of their product... The accidental high idle reset is a known issue, but apparently not to that dealer.
Their explanation sure sounds like the usual song & dance of the ignorant grasping at straws...
I'd certainly welcome the education if someone knows for a fact it's an ECU generated problem and why...
A ****ing uber i would of rolled a new ride rite off the showroom floor and said this is now mine until I get the first one fixed. The only they recommend not using cruise control is so the rider can vary engine rpm's. Its not because it will break something if used too soon. What a crock of ****................
Of course you would have...and been arrested for theft. Internet badass?
