Just bought my dads 08 Street Glide with a 120r, Rhinehart exhaust, up graded stereo sys, and its black pearl, same as my Night Train, which I love. It also has some aftermarket rims, not sure what brand and a few other odds and ends. It only has 13k miles on it, oh, and the screaming eagle 6 speed transmission. Is there anything about the 2008 Street glides I should watch out for. What about the 120r or transmission?
Thank you for the help!
Change the oil when you are supposed to. And ride it.
There are some weak fairing brackets inside the fairing so if the speakers vibrate more than usual you can check that but if he upgraded the stereo he had that open and good chance they were fixed or replaced.
They all came with 6 speed transmissions. As far as I know the only other 6 speed gear sets available for the cruise drive are made by Baker. If it hasn't been dyno tuned and only has the HD download, you should get it tuned. You'll want the lifters changed and the valve springs changed as well. This is all what guys have learned since the 120r was released.
I'll get some pics if he sends them to me. I live in Germany right now so it's kinda hard to get pics of it. Was able to ride it when I visited this past summer. Tell me what is up with the lifters and springs? Is there a certain brand I should go on the springs and lifters? Sounds like a good project to do when I get home in next winter!
You have plenty of time to read threads on the 120R, before you get home to yours! Use advanced Search, for 120R in titles and you'll find around 274 of them!
I had an 08. Bastard year as far as frame and certain seats. You'll benefit from the brace for the rear swing arm. The bike will wiggle and fade in corners. Hated that about my 08. But I put 45k on it before I traded it in 15.
I still have my 08. Put on a True-Track before 1000 miles. Didn't like the 16" front tire/wheel combo, put on a 18" from a 2010 FLHX. Added better shocks. Solo seat. Still is the best Harley I've ever ridden.
