Default Not impressed

I pulled my primary cover off today to while doing alittle maintenance and couldn't believe what I saw. My bike has 14,000 miles on it and is basically a stage two making 92hp and 113 ft lbs of tq. Little did I know but my clutch basket has check out. Three major cracks, basically a complete failure. Other than a handfull off rolling burnouts throughout its life I can't think of any excuse for a failure like this. It blows my mind that a belt is stronger than these clutch baskets. Anyone else seen these failures?

That sucks but it is only die-cast aluminum. And the way its cracking it looks like its from hard engagement where the plate tabs are hitting the forward part of the slots with force. Im assuming thats a stock basket?

Hate that for you. Those belts handle a lot of Torque.

Always a weak link. Keep us posted on what you determine the cause to be.

Yes the basket is stock. Everything else is barnetts scorpion clutch. I've seen many videos on YouTube today of clutch baskets that have done the same thing or worse. Seems like the clutches in these bikes are all around weak from the factory. I can't think of any other brand I've owned that needed heavier springs and such with light engine mods.. I can't believe you dump the clutch a few times (3or4) for a rolling burnout and this is what you get. Other than a few burnouts I can say I've abused this bike in anyway. Looks like a Barnett basket is going to run me $350.

omg that does look bad, next time I do the primary fluid I'm double checking for sure. I don't think the basket should fail that easily imho....

I agree, I only brought up dumping the clutch a few times becouse I'm being completely honest. On the other hand I can't say I thrash on this bike at all really. I've spent a lot of money on this bike and it's my baby, I treat it very good.

Curious, do they sell the kit and not recommend to upgrade the basket? Although if you need to do that it should come in the kit. Either way, sucks.

Thanks for the thought but that is the inner hub for sale and I'm in need of the outer basket. Harley doesn't even sell the outer basket without buying the entire clutch assembly as a whole......wtf? I will be buying the Barnett basket.
