It’s not so much about the idle speed as it is about the cam exhaust valve timing.

Well crap , I guess I need to start looking at the dates b4 I reply huh? So what is an appropriate amount of time for a post to be untouched b4 you treat it as a sleeping dog and let it lie ?

No big deal, really, it has been happening a lot recently though. We just like having some fun with stuff like this.
After we start realizing how old a thread is, we have to think about how relevant new info might or might not be and is it worth starting a new thread or looking for a more recent one.

To really get that potato, potato sound you would have to have a points or a single fire electronics in the bike. Then it would sound like an old shovel or pan engine. Even the Evo's didn't sound like that from the factory with their duel fire.
And cam shafts have alot to do with it. But even stock cams in Shovels sounded great.

Why would dual fire effect this? My understand is dual fire is just a wasted spark on the non compression cycliner.
