Renting a bike is expensive. For reference, a moped is $80+ a day. Lol. I think to rent a bike during bike week is closer to $225 a day.
Nah, $225/day is high. Space Coast HD rents for $99/day Mon-Thurs and $149/day weekends. They also have a weekly rate of $649. Granted they are an hour+ ride away and the required insurance pushes it a bit higher but not to $225/day. They are good people there and do a lot for the HD community and especially the veterans in the area.
$500 rt seems like a good deal to me from Chicago, even w/o pick up and drop off.
I guess I get caught up in habits. Every year I revisit flight, transport, trailering myself and room costs.
Fuel costs and my time to drive down seem to play the biggest role.
Fuel costs today would be appx. $700 round trip. Plus a spot to leave trailer is like $50. So, $750 minus the $500 to transport leaves me with $250 to help pay for Air fair.
More than one way to skin a cat. That's for sure.
Was going to trailer down. Buddy decided not to go. This left me to scramble a bit. No biggie.
jt metal, the cole slaw wrestling takes place at The Cabbage Patch, usually on Wed and Sat. They say it starts at noon, but it usually doesn't get going till 1pm or later. Seems to take forever getting it set up and pumping up the crowd. The Cabbage Patch is a small year 'round biker bar that always seem to have a crowd. During Bike Week, its an absolute zoo, with most of the activities taking place outside. It has been in the news lately with the death of its owner, Ronnie Luznar, in a car accident and an alleged rape a week or so ago.
