For me I have found its mostly the seat position, height and distance from the bars.

If you're trying to nail all aspects of comfort by just going through seats, you may never find one that checks off all the boxes without going full custom. Not sure what other mods or such you've done to your bike but if you find a seat that is nice and comfortable, you may have to also adjust your bars to fit you, adjust the suspension to fit you, adjust your controls to fit you, or any combination of such options.

It's a trial and error process but only focusing on one data point (the seat alone) may be why you're not finding anything that works and gives you overall riding comfort.

Every butt is different. I wish I had the money back I have spent with Mustang, Danny Gray and others I cannot remember. I have also had custom work done to stock seats adding gel, etc.

Bottom line I have concluded that my stock seat works as good as anything. The beauty is the last time I felt I needed to replace the stock seat (56k mile service) I got a like new take off for $75.00.

Ride safe

That's funny, I just left the dealer and decided to do the same. There is a take off like new that I am getting ready to buy for 100.00. My stock seat is worn and torn. I have new bars that are great, new foot controls, and everything adjusted just right. I threw on the stock seat yesterday for a few hour ride and it wasn't bad.
It just seams like a real expensive pursuit.

Likely you are one that will never be happy with one. Take one you have that is the best fit. Find a local that can mod seats and have them work with you. It is not expensive and maybe the only way you find what makes you happy.

What are you looking for in a seat, and what have you tried?

I have already decided to play around and reupholster a seat I have, probably order in some gel pads also. I did upholstery for about 20 years but now own a boat canvas shop.

I had a custom seat made over 10 years ago and it's been fine until the last couple years. Now it's became less comfortable, I solved the issue for me with an AirHawk pad. With the AirHawk I can ride all day with no discomfort, I don't strap it on, just lift it off when I'm done and throw it in the bag. You can usually pick up a used one on CL for $50 - 75, if you don't like it you can resell it with out losing any money.

If modifying multiple seats doesn't help you, maybe modifying your *** will?
