Default New to windshields

All of my Harley's years ago were street bikes but my RK is my first touring bike.
I needed to buy windshield and most of what I read was to have it at nose height and the reasoning seemed sound. After getting my shield I now notice at high speed the vision is distorted above the top of the shield. I don't use it much but I am thinking of getting a taller one now.

Several windshield websites have instructions on how to measure for a new shield.
I went with a Long Ride Shield (LRS) with a recurve at the top. Their instructions worked well for me.

Or possibly one that you can see over but with a recurve at the top. Here's the only place I buy windshields. They always seem to be running a sale of some sort. If not, you may get a forum member discount.

When I was researching websites mostly all agreed nose height. I don't remember anyone saying anything different.

Define distorted vision. Could you be experiencing head buffeting?? Try placing your arm horizontal across your chest and see if that stops or changes the buffeting. If so, you have air flow from under the wind screen. If not then you could try lowering your shield. You can trim a little at a time and see if that helps. Painters tape, coping saw, file, and sandpaper make fairly short work on that.
Just a couple things to try before you spend a lot of money changing shields.

Have many friends that ride. Some will never ride with a windshield. Some look thru the windshield. Recommendations of websites to measure to your nose is the norm. I think it could be buffering. I don't have a RK. But there is a triple tree wind deflector for that bike $29 ish. Also there are lowers for the sides for that reason at least to help. LRS has a 70% off a few times a year keep an eye open. Take care. examples

As Spartanden said about buffeting and is your line of sight at the top of the windshield , that narrow line bothered me so I raised mine to see through and love it better.
Just like a seat try to see what works best for you

If I look right above the shield my vision is distorted at high speed, if I look forward but of to one side or another no issues. If I look through the shield right below the top, no problem. I like looking over the top but if I can't loose the vision distortion I will get a taller shield.
I am wondering about the benefits of a recurve shield.

Did you get a modified acrylic or polycarbonate?
