Default Progressive Shocks

Anyone run Progressive rear lowering shocks on a 2014-2016 Street Glide? Not sure if I want to go with the standard or heavy duty shocks???? I've heard the heavy duty's (look nice)...but make the ride too stiff........ any first hand opinions? Any pictures of bikes with a comparison of the 2 shock heights???

So I'm not sure if this will help, but I just ordered 944's for my '12SG and before I did, I spoke to progressive. I gave them my riding style and expectations and they recommended I go for the standard springs.

I'm 220lbs, wife is 130lbs. Ride 2up and fully loaded approx. 30-40%. Wanted a soft ride for her and a sporty ride for me.

I also went with their 13" springs which sit's at 12", but has a full shock stroke.

If that doesn't help, I'd say email them with your specs, and they'll help you out.

The heavy duty and the standard are both 13". They have a shorter 11.5" as well. I had the heavy duty but switched to the standard because it was pretty stiff. I agree with Gustapo, you may want to contact progressive for a recommendation based off your weight and if you right two up and so on...

I also went from a 11.5 to the 13, I was dragging a lot through the corners.

Absolutely love my 944s and Mono Tubes up front.

I just purchased 944's and went with standard, I'm 183 lbs and ride solo. I am still playing with the settings but I can tell you they are plenty stiff.

Don't the Street Glides already sit low, people I've talked to seem to bottom out fairly regularly.

i have 444,s and im 190 and the wife is 150. ride 2 up alot. i got the 13,s with heavy duty springs. they are perfect. a tad stiff when on my own but id rather have that then bottom out all the time with the standard springs when riding 2 up. compared to the garbage stockers, they are a dream.

You should look at the Legends Shocks. I had the Progressives and now the Legends for the front and rear and believe its a big difference.

I'm 200lbs and the 444s are plenty stiff. I would not need anything more 9xx's would be like a dang hard tail for me.

However, i also went with the "monotube kit" for my front forks on my RKC 2007 that was an amazing difference.

Not going to bad mouth them. I tried the 944's. They did not work for me. I am on the lighter side and they never worked out. I am sure the riders weight has a lot to do with what works and what don't.

it all depends on your riding style and what you want from different shocks. Aggressive rider? Solo most of the time/all of the time? 2-up? What do you weigh? Passenger? All of that factors into which route to go.

I am 240lbs, ride solo about 80% of the time. But, the wife likes to ride when the weather is nice. I went with the 944s with HD springs. But not the Low model (they have a regular and a low). The regular 944 (either standard or hd spring) will sit like a stock SG. The 944 low drops the rear a bit more for shorter riders. The 444s, 13", will sit at 13", like a stock RK or Ultra, so higher than an SG. Those come in standard spring or HD as well. The difference between the 944s and 444s are that the 944s 13" sits at 12" but still gives full travel and has variable adjustability compared to pre-set points, I think 5, for the 444s.

Either one is an improvement over the stock air shocks, IMHO. I set mine up for 2-up riding, a bit stiff when solo, but I like the firm feel of them and no bottoming out unless it is some HUGE dip or rut I did not see.
