The backrest I got for my bike (not adjustable) makes me sit about an inch or so too close. I need my brake and shifter to move forward now. I have it installed as far back as it will go. Is there a mod to install the mounting hardware farther back or will I have to invest in an extended brake and shifter lever?
I read on this forum about puttin a washer or two on the mount bolt by the battery. Did it just cause and seems to give it a little more back adjutment(adj rest). try that? good luck
Also have heard you can bend the two black rods a little to give you some more room. Don't have the backrest, yet, but I am sure I will have to do the same. I am cramped up enough.
I have the backrest that you have also and it does seem to put you forward. I just bent the two legs on the back rest back to where I felt more comfortable. I put mine in a vise and hit it with a hammer. It is pretty tough so you might have someone put some pressure on it as you hit it. If you have access to a press it would be easier. hope this helps.
This has been a pain in the butt for me (no pun intended). I have been trying to get it "just right." I've come to the conclusion that the bolts installed on the fender are about 1/4-1/2 inch too far forward. I will be trying to fix this again tomorrow. I tried bending the rods but I don't have a large enough press. Those rods are really hard! I thought about putting some heat then bend, but I'm afraid I'll damage the material. The engineer that designed this must've been drunk!
I bought the adjustable model for my UC. I am 6'1" 350lb. I felt like I was sitting on the tank. I took mine back for a refund. They need some long legged fat asses in R&D at MOCO.
it just put on on my 07 rkc ,i am only 5"7 so its just right for me .i thought it was me,thinking about a bigguy sitting atop his tank, made me lol............finally something fits us height challeged prople!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had mine put on at the dealerwhen I bought my bike because I had always rode with a back rest.It looked great rode the bikehome feeling like I was sitting on the tank all the way.I knew I had wasted my money. Got home took it off threw iton the storage shelf and a year later it still lays in the same spot.
I had the same problem, I adjusted the rods with a press. I bent both rods back where they come out of the seat and it works a lot better now. I've had the adjustable one before and I liked the fit of that one a lot better.
