I have both a HD 2013 Ultra Limited and a GW1800 Trike. I ride the HD when I ride solo and the GW when my wife wants to go with me. I bought the trike because I didn't feel I could safely handle the HD with me and her both on it. I am 67 with some physical limitations. I rode a new HD trike and the GW and I liked the GW better. We've been on several trips with our local GW group and love the GW. Now that I've gotten familiar with it I enjoy the ride and won't hold anyone back even on the most twisty of roads. I've been riding HD's for over 40 years and intend to ride on two wheels as long as possible. However when the time comes I'll switch over to the trike and not look back accept to see what is in my mirror. Good luck with your decision. PM me if you need further information.

I agree with a couple others before me. If I needed one because I cant do two wheels then ok. However, I did talk to a fellow that has street glide and a trike. If the wife goes he rides the trike if solo he take the street glide.

Doesn't matter 2 wheels or 3 wheels your still riding my friend, doesn't matter what others think and you see more and more Trikes every year. Go to a dealer and try and buy a used one good luck they sell as fast as they come in. But for the price of a new one OUCH.

I'd ride a trike. Not my first choice but I'd do it if I could only afford one and that's what the wife wanted to feel safer. I'd prefer a standard configuration trike but would even consider a CanAm, the people I know with one seem very happy with them.
I would not be happy with a Slingshot. They're interesting but not, to me anyway, not a real motorcycle. More of a street legal, three wheel dune buggy, not really the same thing.

Take a look if you're curious but it's your bike. Get what YOU want.

When the time comes that I can't handle two wheels, I'll be looking at a sidecar rig.... I've ridden one once and it was a little work, but kinda fun. They're not as easy to drive as two wheels, probably harder to ride than an HD trike, but I personally just don't like the look of a trike...... the side car has a nostalgia look to it, so I find it more appealing...

So after reading this and talking to a few people I know with trike experience, I think I'll stick with the ultra limited. Trikes sound as dangerous as 3 wheel off road bikes, which I do have experience with. I don't think I'd like it. Thanks all for the input!

In vegas again this weekend. My buddy has a road glide ultra for him and a tri glide for him and the wife. She feels more comfortable on the triglide. Plus they don't push real hard when they go on trips together. He said it's different but not terrible, he offered me to take it last night but I'm gonna stick with the road glide at least for today.

If you have never rode one, test one out, I did and was surprised how fun they are. You really can't compare them to the off road trikes of old.

I am one who thought never would I ever unless I had physical limitations, but after the demo, not so sure about that. To me, they are a blast to ride.

I am defiantly not ready to give 2 wheels up, but if I had the dough, I would add one to the garage.

You said you got cut off and I'm sure you did your best not to wreck so the decision to go trike has nothing to do with your riding ability so I would stay on two wheels. Just my opinion we ride bikes because partly because we like the way they handle you loose must of that on a trike.
