can any one send me a link to them fuel can, thanks
Visit your local backpacking store, they all carry them. Great bottles, I use them for backpacking and never have had a leak. When I head off to Sturgis this summer, I will have one in my saddle bag.
Does anyone Carry a gas can in there saddle bags or tour pack, How safe is this. some times it is hard to find a gas station open at night in my neck of the woods
Dont ride at nite or during the day you could plant some 5 gallon cans out in the woods incase you need fuel!
Part of my everyday carry is a siphon hose, easy to help a stranded biker with that, just let him siphon some from your tank, same for you, if you do run out, and it does happen, if anybody car, truck, another bike, you can siphon some gas and be on your way. but I may look into a small gas bottle as some say they carry also. problem is when on a long road trip, the lack of space. we four horsemen have really been in some places where when we got to the black dot on the map with a name, have found nothing but a stockyard,,that can cause problems.
I can see that some of you have never ridden in a strange land and at night and the red light comes on the speedO. Pull off next exit and find the whole area shut down at 6PM
Ride two more exits same crap. Third exit see light like Gas Station ON pull in find out its a CO_OP Station no attentant. Now panic sets in. So I wait to Farmer Joe shows up and beg him to take some cash to allow you to fill up. This is after two hours of waiting. Nope I think the fuel bottle sounds like a great idea. Though how far will a quart get you.
one of the tricks that some of us older guys know, when you hit a closed station, sometimes there is enough gas in the hoses that you can get a little out of each one ofthem, it works, I was doing that one night in a small town and the town cop showed up, when I told him my problem he got the station owner to come down and give me gas, but that was about 9 pm not 3 am, a little something to tuck in the back of your mind.
When going on a ride fill up and use your gas gauge, there normally is a gas station around, do you carry a gas can in your car? you just have to pay attention.
Ever been there ?
You know. Running out of gas. Itâs dark and you are in the middle of nowhere. Gas stations are far and in between and the ones that are there are closed. What to do ?
First thing is not to get arrested. The cop that you need for help is nowhere to be seen. Oh yeah! Except he might be when you are forced to pilfer some gas.You donât get arrested by thinking in advance. Pull over into that deserted gas station and pull out ten bucks. Find a rock and put that ten bucks under it on top of the gas pump in very plain sight. Okay, weâre ready.
Pull out the gas pump line as far as it will go. Take the gas cap off and put the nozzle firmly into the gas tank. Weâre gonna study a principle of physics. Centrifugal force creating a suction or pumping effect is the lesson for today. Hopefully you werenâtâ t too cool to play at skipping when you were a kid. Child skill becomes survival skill. Slowly twirl that gas pump line just as you would as if a skipping rope. Be patient. In a minute or two the gas will slowly come in dribs and drabs.
Now. Just take enough gas to get going. Or maybe you want a fillup. If so. Just keep twirling.
After youâre finished, pop that ten bucks through the letter slot of the gas station office with a note if you have a pen. 'Cause we donât want no slime ball non-biker to be stealing the gas owners hard earned cash.
