I installed Alloy Arts, Touring XR stabilizer today. It took about 1 1/2 hours, fairly easy, even for me. lol! This device is perfectly machined. A lot of thought must have went into this design. Top notch quality.
Went out for a test ride, really loved the way it handled in the curves. It gives you a very confident feel. Very solid. Thought I was on a sport bike. I then took it on the interstate, got it up to 80, it tracked solid and straight. It wasn't windy today so I wasn't able to test it in a cross wind which is when my bike normally will start to wobble. I'll report on that aspect as soon as the opportunity arises.
Ok, that's the positive. Now the negative; I feel more vibration in the floor boards, the shifter vibrates more when in gear and I feel more vibration through the seat. I will call Rob at Alloy Art on Monday to make sure it is adjusted properly.
So, in retrospect it appears that there is a slight trade-off for better handling.
Is it worth it? Probably, but I need more saddle time.
Has anyone else had experience with this product? I'd like to compare notes.
Phil, haven't had a chance to take any pics yet but as soon as I do I'll post them. I can say this, I don't think there will be any ground clearance issues. Very nice design.
