Hi guys new to the forum, should be picking up my olive gold RKS this coming week and looking to change the end pipes to get the Harley sound! I really like the V&H hi outputs but not really seen them over here, (UK) especially on stretched bags, anyone got any them? Pleased? Picks would be great to!!
cheers guys
not my bike but i think this is what you wanted to see
I am about 1 inch away from joining the road king special owners group. I have located and have a acceptable deal on a Vivid Black RKS, I have to tell him if I am going to pull the trigger or not. I love what they have done with bike. There is another thread concerning problems with the M8, way too long for me to read. Also I know how it can be with things being exaggerated. So I wanted to come to this thread and just cut through the Chase. First of all from what I did read
it appears like many of the problems were with stage 3 &4 upgrades. I will not be doing either. Since this thread is specifically for the bike I want to buy, has there been many issues with the RKS? I'm not trying to start a argument, I'm just looking for some straightforward answers. Not sure if it matters, but this bike just arrived at the dealer a week ago, I don't know if they've done anything different from the MOCO or if there ever really was any problems. I appreciate any help or advice, I think that RKS is one of the coolest Harley Davidson I've seen. Past bikes were 05 deluxe and 09 ultra.
Thks.
Don't let the M8 problems thread scare you. If you don't plan on any major modifications you will have a warranty to back you up. The RKS is an awesome bike and you will enjoy the hell out of it. So pull the trigger and enjoy it. It appears your user name has you already taking mental ownership of a Black RKS! post pics when you pick it up.
I was trying to want till I was totally done, but this is close enough the Vance and Hines sound great too me and the cat less head pipe kills the heat big time, I don't think you will be let down with them. I used the power vision with a map from FuelMoto and it was spot on.

Bike looks quality, cheers dude, you've got the heavy breather To which I'll get eventually, and headers but for now I'll make do with end pipes and I think I'm Gona wrap the headers with titanium exhaust wrap, give it the old school look! Will post some pic's when it's done!
Don't mind the film quality I dig ditches for a living😂😂. Keep in mind I have the SE 447 tourque cam as well but I don't think it makes that much of a difference in the sound. The bars are 12" Vindikta's devil dogs. Joe brought them in a bit and they feel perfect for me. I've read that you can do 14s without extensions, I wouldn't try it. The cables would work but the wires would be in a nylon bind and I don't think it would be long before something gave, just my opinion
I've been kicking around the idea of a RKS for my first bike in about 7 years. Last was a 2010 Road Glide Custom. There a few things I would want added before it left the dealership... one of them being a windshield. I would imagine I will end up with two different shields. A big one for long distance and a smaller/medium for shorter travels to keep the wind off my chest. I am wondering about the smaller/medium and what you guys are going with. I like the looks of the HD Wind Splitter the best but not sure how effective it is. I'm 5'10". I'd imagine for the real touring I would just get a standard RK windshield.

I went from a 13 RGC to the 17 RKS. I put the 15" Memphis Shades Slim on. I wish I had gone a little wider with the 15" inch Memphis Shades Fat.
Getting used to the wind after the RGC is taking a little time, but the M8 is so nice, and the ride is much better.
BTW, I traded an 04 Heritage Softail for the RGC, and the Softail had a big windshield. They keep the wind off of you, but IMO, are terrible for touring. When it rains you can not see through them. Happened to me many times, and it is downright dangerous.
