I just put on my new V&H Oval slip ons..... Sounds great and runs good too, just a few gurgles when slowing down.
I havent done the intake or any downloads. I read here before that this shouldnt cause any trouble. But I would like to hear it again for my piece of mind.
I have a Big sucker sitting in the garage(not on the bike yet) and a DFO on order. I dont need to park it until the DFO comes do I?[&:]
Your exhaust is fine as long as you don't install the breather. That will lean your bike way out and you stand a chance of burning a valve. You'll need an aftermarket ignition system or Harley download for your ECM. I like the Vance and Hnies slips-ons as well. Good luck.
Thanks guys that makes me feel better. Question though, once I install the DFO and intake will I still need to do a stage one flash of the ECM?
Contrary to many beliefs, you do not need to reflash when using the DFO/TFI. The only benefit to the download (reflash) would be a higher rev limit, which on your bike would only spin the motor over higher (not a good thing with a TC) without any real benefit because you are already past the power band of the stock cam. Only other "benefit" of the reflash is if the DFO takes a dump, you'll still get a bit more fuel to the engine. The DFO is also more adjustable ( range wise) without the download and can be dialed in better. To date, I've never heard of a DFO taking a dump.
I too, would like to know what DFO stands for, (I'm assuming that its an acronym ) It's too bad that some who have been here longer feel that it would be troublesome to be helpfull but instead, more eager to make reference to past discussion.
