Ex auto mechanic, very familiar with bleeding brakes. No air in it or at least coming out of caliper bleed screws.
Bad master..Just noticed 2004. When I glanced at your picture, I thought it was much newer... Still has DOT 5 in it? Probably, when it went too far, there was crud that finished off cups. Did that not too long ago bleading a 2005 CRV after rebuilding the calipers. Had a helper (RIP) Knew I should have got the vac out.

I can't make that claim but I've been bleeding bl33ding Harley hydraulic brakes over 40 years and since DOT3! They have a random feature which is they either bleed in a blink and catch us by surprise, or take forever and test the patience of a saint! Thinking calm thoughts and praying to your many gods may help.....
As already mentioned we have Stickies in the Tech Brakes section, which may help. I have several devices that are supposed to assist bleeding, including both pressure and vacuum tools, but no one of them has ever guaranteed reliable results. I always use the tried and tested old fashioned way first, hose and bottle, which is reasonably reliable. By all means check your master cylinder as suggested by RIPSAW.
2004 RoadKing new chrome master cyl and lines with new handle bars.
My experience has been that some of the aftermarket master cylinders are pure junk and often don't work from the get go. Sometimes putting new good quality seals/bucket in them fixes them. Other times, the chrome plating has extended partway into the master cylinder bore and interferes with the seals/bucket so its a throwaway job.
And the way genuine OEM Harley parts are going these days, I would not be surprised if their chrome add on parts were the same aftermarket junk with the HD label on it -- they are doing that now with older model parts for Shovels etc.

Problem solved.
Cleaned the brake caliper pistons... Amazing difference! The Brake lever now is firm and as soon as I start to pull it. Who would have thought it could make that much difference, they were not even dirty looking.
