I have an 07 RG and it is completely stock. The bike generates plenty of power for me and it doesn't get so hot that I cannot stand it.
I feel like I am the only 07 HD owner that has not done some engine modification. Everyone says that the bike's run too lean. My question is, if I don't do something to modify my bike will I have problems down the road?
Tell me I am not the only one running completely stock.
Nope, your not the only one. I have an 07 street glide and Iam totaly content with performance and so called heat issue. I plan on leaving it stock as well.
If your not setting in traffic in 95 deg heat then most likely you will not have any problems. They do run hot but as long as your moving it should not run so hot that it would do any damage. Now if you were to upgrade the ECM to a PCIII, Fuelpak, SERT, ect you would only be extending the life of the engine. If you like the bike stock you could add just the Fuelpak for $200 and richen it up to run cooler and therefore add life to the motor. JMO
I hear you! My 2000 Ultra was stock, except for Stage1, until this past Feb. I needed new pipes, and a check on my cam chain tensioners showed they needed replacement. So I finally did the gear driven cams, and V&H pipes, and then needed a PCIII cause my plugs showed I was running very lean. Had the original battery until last month when I swapped it just in case. If it runs good, you can leave it alone. Once you start though.........
I think the reason you see most of the people on here with modified bikes is because a lot of people come here to talk about what modifications they may want to do or have done etc.
Everything is lean, your toyota ford chevy honda, every motorcycle made is lean every pickup is lean there all lean and perfectly fine lean you dont have to do anything but ride and enjoy. The problem is you have people who like it loud like to squeeze every last ounce of torque and hp out of these machines, then you have to rejet do some type of fuel management etc, back in the 70`s we had to rejet it aint nothing new and different if you are happy leave it alone and ride it to the ends of the earth..Tom..
I am running an 07 Road King Classic I put a 103 Kit on it....I asked my dealer about the heat on the 07s, putting an oil cooler on and what not....he told me not to worry about the heat. I did order a digital dip stick gauge though. I don't care what bike you have if it is aircooled and you are not moving that engine is going to heat up!
