But I have always replaced the rear when its worn and waitedto use upthe front because, have you ever tried to sell a used, or "take off" front tire? I average 2 rear tires to one front tire likea lot ofriders.
I have yet to change both at the same time which helps the pocket book. Now that I've found it on this forum, Iintend toget my own static balancer because I do all the rest myself. I figure balancing 3 tires will cover the cost of the balancer based on what I've paid the dealer in the past.
Go for a better "softer compound". You will feel the difference and get home safer if you don't beat the rain. Compare the amounts of money we spend on these rides and it only makes sense to spend a little more on a tire that will grip(perform) better than trying to save a few bucks on the only thing between you and the blacktop.

You know i threw away abasically brand new front tire but no way was I going to do it half A$$ed. Here's my post after a few miles on the new shoes. https://www.hdforums.com/m_1730487/tm.htm
Great post. Its great when we can affirm to whomever asked the question in the first place, and throw in words like "feel", and safe, safer, saftey. I've always used up my tires cuz when I got into this it was a luxury I was told I couldn't afford. And I'm still riding!! I'll only have to put up with another 6-7k on the dunlop in front after getting the 880 Metz for the rear
Dude - in jest or not, I think you're REALLY outta line. A married woman is a married woman - and as such, you should respect her vows, not to mention showing a little more class.
Don't sacrifice safety for price, bro.....high mileage tires are harder than others....stick to a quality Dunlop, Avon, or Metzler.....I ride over 15,000 miles a year, so I replace them frequently, but tires is not where you want to save a few dollars.....
MY last touring bike had Avon Venom X. The front had 16000 Mi, rear 7000 Mi when I sold it. I saw no reason why the front would not safely make well over 20000 and I felt the rear should get 20000. I loved the handling of the Venom X. When my 07 Ultra needs tires, I plan on Avons.
Web site of all the tire manufacturers should give you the right tire and size for your bike.
