Like said, subjective. I also like Avon grips but I never ride without some sort of leather between my hands and grips. Never could, never will. Been this way since I was a kid very long ago.
Who the hell knows? I'm with Dickey with the Get-a-Grips...but I know some guys who love the OEM grips and would never change! I personally would never have a metal grip but clearly there are guys who love them, and they have excellent reasons for doing so.
I was looking for new grips for my 2017 RGU when I bought it, saw a CVO in the show room with the Air Flow grips. Once I put my hands on them I was sold and had them installed on my RGU. 5K miles later they are my favorite grips and will add them to my Wide Glide as well https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...low-hand-grips

Be sure and add the cruise control function....
Not a true "cruise control" but it lets you remove your hand from the grip while keeping the throttle in the same position.
I went from the Arlen Ness deep cuts ( too bulky ) to the HD air flows and really like them. The new HD defiance look and feel nice but pricey. HD grips always fit good.
I have the Avon Contours in black. They are OK, but if HD had the slipstream grips in black, that is what I would be running. For me the oval shape fits my hands nicely. (most HD dealers have a demo area set up with grips on bars) that is where I felt them.
