Hey everyone,
Here is the situation. The wife bought me a 2003 FLHT Std back in February. Prior, we would cruise around on a 2001 V-Star, pretty much stock. I am not a gearhead by any means but I am having a great time learning about my bike and the great mods available. Here is what I'm on right now...
Engine: 95 cubic inch conversion(carb), bored original cylinders, heads untouched with HD flat top pistons. S&S gear drive for cams, Crame cams(same grind as SE 204's) Crane lifters & Crane Adjustable push rods. SE A/C.
Samson True Duals w/Kerker Performance Mufflers.
Progressive Suspension rear air ride w/ onboard compressor....
Not to mention all the chrome, LED conversion lights(signals etc) so forth and so on...
So I guess what I'm asking is, what would you do? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Welcome Mario. Congratulations on crossing over to the dark side.
I will just bump this question back up to the top for you so some others can join in with some comments.
First of all, a picture would help a lot. You may want to post one of your new ride. Secondly, do you want performance upgrades or comfort upgrades or appearance upgrades or just bling. Give us some hints of your priorities.
I might suggest you do those heads. You like a good head job, don't you? So will your bike.
I'm thinking more performance than looks. Power is not the issue and I would love to get some more mpg's out her. OK, I would love more power, too. Is there a way to get some of both. I have not had the bike dyno'd and my mileage is abou 45 on the HW...
It appears you still have the stock air cleaner. Get that thing opened up with a high flow air cleaner and get some kind of fuel management on her. I'm assumeing it's fuel injected.
Yep, heads. Better, more efficient combustion. Should do your trick.
If you have the .505 lift Crane cams (there are none that are the same as the SE 204) then they like about 9.8 compression to get to the best from them. I have seen a build with the small Crane cams and Flat tops that was well above 100/100 with some damn good head work. A good choice. BTW that build also had a D&D Fatcat 2-1 exhaust and a Ness intake.
