Default exhaust question

I have a 2012 Harley Davidson Street Glide FLHX. It has Screaming eagle pipes on it and they sound good taking off at higher RPMS but when idling I can barely hear it and I don't like that. I want it to be loud and bad as hell. What do I need? Can I make my current pipes loud like I want or do I need to change them?

Do you still have the stock header? How much are you willing to invest?

It's pretty hard to be loud and bad as hell when the bike is idling. You can purchase a side dump exhaust from a manufacturer but you'll lose all your bottom end torque. It'll be like not having first gear. You'll definitely be loud but there's not going to be anyone to hear your "bad as hell pipes" because you'll be at the very back of the pack.

I ditched my Rinehart True Duals for some Samson Hell Raiser 2-2 pipes. If I've lost any hp/tq I can't tell but one things for sure they have an aggressive note to them and you can here them at idle and through all the gears. At highway speeds it's a nice dull moan until you crack them.

lol maybe I need to rephrase my question. I want them to be loud but not so loud that I will lose my power. I just seem to have the quietest bike in the group and I dont like that. I want to hear it rumble not make everyone deaf ya know. I dont know if it has the stock header on it or not I bought it like this with the Screaming eagle kit on it. Yall tell me, I am learning as I go.

I did some research and i get it now. I think it has a stock header cause the pipes are connected at the base below where it says 6 speed. they are not separate pipes. So I have stock headers with Screaming eagle slip ons?

Add a good aftermarket header and a Turner.

Fullsac "D" X-Pipe and TTS Mastertune Turner would be my choice.

Fuel Moto would also be a good choice as well.

Step one is to remove your cat by cut, drill or buy a header which is not expensive. Then listen to it and think about any baffles in your slip ons if they have removable baffles or different slip ons. I gutted my cat and removed/cut out my stock slip on baffles so it's pretty much a wide open pipe and has the sound you are looking for I believe. You will need to richen or tune it of course.

Good luck.

I had the same problem with it being quiet at idle and noisy when at full throttle. I put on a Rush header without a cat ($200) and a set of CFR slip ons ($550). Holy cow what a difference. It's throaty at idle and deafening at full throttle. Cruising speed it's loud but not deafening. I get comments all the time on how good it sounds. I've got upgraded SSI cams in it so my idle is spectacular. Bumpity bumpity Lol.

So how much does it cost to have the exhaust decatted and the baffling deal set right? Also who does these sort of things?
