FM Reception

I am a former radio installer. These will seem logical, but make sure the antenna is correctly grounded. A well grounded antenna is essential. (Ask anyone who had a CB.) Make sure the coax from the radio to the antenna is not pinched and not close to a heat source. After that, look at the connection and make sure it is tight at both ends. Make sure the antenna is compatible with the radio. Some antenna's are less powerful than others.

So, I rode in this morning. FM reception greatly improved. I wasn't getting the wavering loud then quiet and then loud again non-sense I had before from stations fading in and out. No whining or interference noise. Sound quality still isn't any where near what a CD would be, but I wouldn't expect that anyway given the nature of what it is. I no longer have any ounce of AM reception, but I never use it anyway, so not an issue. The weather band still works fine, though. For $13, it has been a perfect fix for me. Obviously depending on how far you live from towers, YMMV, but hopefully this will help some out there that have been having issues.

Yeah, those little amps always kill AM. I don't know how AM is still commercial viable anyway. All the big AM stations here simulcast on a an FM station too so there's no need for AM for me.

I'm with you on that. My buddy likes to listen to AM. I never understood why, whatever. I drive past an AM tower on my way to work in the mornings. Takes up a lot of room for what it is.
