Agreed! Those things are hideous, and 15 years of the old Dzus fasteners never a single issue, just gotta install them correctly
seen the difference of fasteners, I wasn't going to replace the oem until a) a fellow employee of mine had lost his left bag on I -95 cross bronx expressway...And I was offered 20 bucks for my fasteners once I switched to the popular hardware being used by many......I switched; no worries at all. How often cn you say that with 12 bucks extra in your pocket??
Anybody here fly airplanes ? Most that do, will always follow a pre-flight check list and walk around before they fly. It's drilled into our heads during training. "If it ain't right on the ground, it ain't gonna get any better in the air". Are motorcycles any safer than an airplane ? No. I always do at least a walk around, and look it over pretty good after I get through riding (or flying to) My Harley is still new, but I do look at a few things by habit before I ride it. It's always a good idea to look it over for stuff that's not right (like the loose saddle bag) when you're finished with a ride, and/or before the next one. Might be a good idea to make up, and follow a pre-flight check list for motorcycles too.
This and a U clip and you are set, you only need two.
I use these in stainless . Keep a ball end allen wrench handy & they
come right off . Makes the bags more theft proof also . That's why I
use bolts . You can buy the bolts or even ***** at Lowes . I use the
bolts so there is nothing sticking out in the bag .
My 14 SGS came with these in the bags from the PO and after having the bike for about 6 months the plastic handle spun off the bolt on one of them and was useless to me so I bought these....
