Spend the $$ and put the saddlebag rails on it makes it look like the old FLHTS and you'll never lose a bag JMO and $$ well spent and looks better, those bags are just asking for trouble without those rails and why HD cheaped out and did away with them is crazy IMO also. I know, I know $$$

Actually, Harley didn't 'cheap out' when they omitted them from certain models...they simply responded to the market. Many owners don't like the look of the guards, including myself. Are guards useful? Hell yeah. Are they butt ugly? Well, hell yeah!
I've dropped mine on its bags before, and I've had to fix the scratches. I had a moving crash with mine in January, not very fast, maybe 25-30 MPH, the damage was fixable, but in the end, the insurance company bought me a new scooter...but that was a pretty good testament to the toughness of the bags themselves.
But, to each their own. For every person who might agree that they're fugly, there's an equal number who would say that they're the best thang since sliced beer!
Thats just it, if installed properly you won't loose a bag.
I concur, if installed PROPERLY, you won't lose a bag. I've taken mine on/off hundreds of times, no problems. And that's TWO bikes. Also, never had anyone I know lose a bag, just saying.
2009 streetglide. I would assume the pins came loose or I didn't fasten them correctly.
The pins dot just come loose, they are simple Dzus style fasteners that hold together airplanes and 300 mph drag cars...its operator error every time a bag falls off! Unfortunate,
But true!
