Hey guys, i'm looking at buying a 05 electra glide classic. i know we get the question what do i need to look for, yada yada yada. well i'm asking that question, but i'm looking for specifics to the fuel injected eg, 05 model. i'm a sporty guy that just needs some room. i'm not getting rid of my sporty though. i would appreciate it if you guys could give me some advice without flaming me on this over used question. i'm justlooking for stuff like check the mounts on the bags, or check the light wiring, etc. some of the common stuff for you guys but uncommon to my sporty riding @$$. thanks in advance guys,
I do not know the specifics of the problem, but many '05's had a valve seal problem thatHD repaired under warranty. In addition to the normal "used bike" checklist items, I would definitely see if the '05 you are considering was repaired under warranty or not for this valve seal problem.
Perhaps others on the forum familiar with the problem will chime in.
thanks guys. i appreciate the info. due to me being on third shift now it's hard to get back to you guys when i would like. i give it up for anybody working third in the states. it's wonderful on deployment but back here stateside, wow this sucks. but thanks again guys,
Get the VIN # of the bike you're looking at and run through the HD website. There is a place to fo that under the service and maintenance section. It will tell you if there are any outstanding recalls on that bike.
How many miles are on it? That should give you a clue about how close some larger items are to needing replacement/maintenance.
